More Obama terrorist talk coming out of McCain headquarters!

advertisement

McCain staff and volunteers are being taught to compare Obama to Osama bin Laden to convince voters to vote for McCain in Virginia. A Time reporter witnessed the training session where the McCain campaign trains people to use the word terrorist in connection with Obama. The reporter also witnessed the campaign workers shouting out untrue rumors about Obama that the McCain campaign didn't bother to correct. Is this happening in all the McCain offices?

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Disgusting, reprehensible, dishonorable.  John McCain, the once-upon-a-time "hero" has perverted his own legacy.

Not only lack of integrity but lack of leadership too! I keep saying, if he can't get his own darn campaign to follow his directives, there's no hope for Congress because he has problems with Democrats, and Republicans alike.

That's what hate does. It blinds people to the real issues. Isn't it amazing that the McCain camp still can't figure out why he's down in the polls? You are right, and Barack Obama is right. They just don't get it. However, I disagree with Obama on one thing, McCain doesn't care about anything except how to win. Honor is no longer a virture he can claim.

Greed and power as well, lots of money out there for the right politician.  K-Street lines up waiting for them.

As for McCain and honor that's a tough one, I hate to say a vet has lost honor but,, arrogance, pride, and an over the top zeal for the office.... does corrupt the soul..

I think they are stupid not to listen to the conservative pundits that are telling the campaign to scrap these divisive tactics.  But then again, it gives insight into the win-at-all-costs attitude that we didn't know McCain had until now.

To much is being made of race, gender and religion in this election cycle by the media. I often listen to the pundits who all earn exhorbitant sums of money by telling us what we think, how we feel, even what we believe or who we trust. But I realized a long time ago that the pundits don't live in the same world as ordinary Americans. These people earn enough money and receive really valuable perks as a by product of their professions. Their lives are so far removed from a sanitation worker or taxi driver or a factory worker that it is ludicrous for them to be the opinion shapers of poor and middle class people.

You are right that the pundits don't live the same lives as the average American, but race, religion and gender should be kept out of politics and if they have to talk about it to get the candidates to be respectful, then I'm all for it!  Remember, one of these men is going to be our President.  I don't want the world to think our President is prejudiced.  Let's have a clean election, folks!

Destiny what will it mean if the world believes that a significant segment of our population are bigots and racist. Or if a sitting United States Senator would make subtle appeals to racism to improve his chances to win. Didn't Hitler make the same us vs them argument to white people as McCain/ Palin are making before he brought about the holocaust of the Jews?

I was watching the news this morning and they were covering todays McCain/Palin rally and after he finished speaking they showed a wide shot of the crowd.  Someone was holding up a sign that read Obama Bin Lying.  So are we to believe that was just that one individual's opinion?  Knowing this was going to be televised, you think maybe security would have asked them not to put up that sign or maybe take it away from that person?  Well they didn't and it was shown on national television.

            Louie Lou

I really do respect people's right to free speech so I don't necessarily agree that they should have put the signs down or had then taken away. My problem with this whole rally thing, is the POTUS' response to the hate filled venomous epithets. To me it's indicative of winning at all costs and it speaks to character and honor. Or should I say, the lace therof.

That's a very good point.  People's possessions are closely screened at these rallies.  It makes you wonder if the Virginia office isn't offering rogue training but is instead offering training that has been approved by the national campaign.  At the very least it shows the McCain campaign is insensitive or in denial about the hatred they are stirring up.

Well, when I go to a baseball game, they check my belongings and do not allow me to bring my homemade sign.  It wasn't like it had anything bad either, but they said it was stadium policy.  You would think they would have this kind of policy at rallies too.

hey personally I am going to find it interesting if the Republicans manage some way to hold onto the Presidency because a lot of the whites who are voting not with their minds or even their skin color but with something even worse and that's " ideology "  and maybe they haven't learned yet that ideology doesn't create job's or prosperity it only creates excuses for the failures of the leaders.

no white family's are on welfare

no white man or woman has lost their job

no white family has lost their home, or been victimized by adjustable rate mortgages

no deserving white kid has been forced to drop out of college because of a change in the family circumstances

No white senior citizen has lost their retirement

They wouldn't let the reporter go out with them, but Obama camp did.  Wish from now on every reporter wears a mike and a camera to these invites, both camps.  I'd like to see this garbage plastered on Youtube to open eyes, on both sides if necessary.
