I'm voting for Barack Obama...

......Because hope is healthier than fear. Because a Supreme Court that applies the intentions of the framers of Constitution is better than a Supreme Court that manufactures partisan decisions. Because historically the economy has fared better in Democrats' hands. Because I believe that women should be payed the same as men for the same job. Because I believe that animals should be treasured by humans, not shot from planes and tested on in cruel and inhumane ways. Because I believe we are only as healthy as the air we breathe. Because I don't think Native American tribes should be relocated to nuclear waste sites. Because I don't think veterans should end up homeless or be used as a political tool. Because I believe that the rest of the world matters just as much as America does. Because I believe that the only "un-American" people in this country are the ones who think they are the only "pro-America" ones. Because I don't find the subject of war or death or rape humorous. Because I believe that a history of intellectual curiosity is the best experience a President can have. Because I believe Obama has learned from his shortcomings while McCain has tried to hide his behind the cloak of "POW". Because Obama and Biden have read the Constitution and McCain and Palin either haven't or didn't understand it. Because I would like to live in "America, the Beautiful" not "America, the all-powerful military machine". Because McCain says he will reach across the aisle, but has divided the electorate with lies and ugly tactics, while Obama has advisors from both parties and is already reaching across the aisle. Because I don't believe that all gays, Arabs, Muslims, single parents, atheists, peace-lovers, animal rights activists, intellectuals and liberals are a danger to this country. Because Obama has been a gentleman and hasn't used all the dirt in McCain's past against him. Because I believe that Obama is a kind man and I can't say the same for McCain. Because I believe in living by "the power of our example" and not "the example of our power".

There's an old adage which states that, if you have a heart, you'll be a Democrat, and if you have a brain, you'll be a Republican. We've seldom had a candidate that had both a heart and a brain. In fact, the past eight years we've had a President who has neither a heart nor a brain and it's possible McCain has neither, as well. Luckily for America in 2008, we have another candidate who has a heart, a brain, is an inspiration to Americans and who will work to restore our standing throughout the world. That man is Barack Obama.

"In my heart I know you didn't come here just for me, you came here because you believe in what this country can be. In the face of war, you believe there can be peace. In the face of despair, you believe there can be hope. In the face of a politics that's shut you out, that's told you to settle, that's divided us for too long, you believe we can be one people, reaching for what's possible, building that more perfect union." ~ Barack Obama
